This shoot is so special to me. I gathered a whole bunch of people who took a step of faith with me and created the biggest shoot I’ve done to date! I’ve always loved ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and really wanted to take the chaotic elements of this story and make it beautiful. We had hanging teapots and teacups, blue vodka, a tipsy turvy 5 tiered cake and a green wall with crazy clocks and frames.
What makes it more different is the green wall covered with beautiful herbs like mint, lemon balm, rosemary and thyme (just to name a few). These herbs helped create an aromatic element to this space and we really wanted to evoke all the senses. Especially when smell is such a powerful sense that usually helps vividly recall certain memories so we wanted to make it a significant part of this shoot.
We also had two dresses because let’s be honest, it’s definitely the trend these days. So our beautiful bride had a ceremony white dress and went a bit crazy with the pastel pink and the skirt texture for the reception. We also changed her hair as well to match with the different settings and dress.
We had the beautiful pleasure of shooting this all at Manly Q Station Greenhouse! The Q station is actually most recognised for its chilling Ghost tours so I’ll admit, I was freaked out when I first got there because I’m not a fan of ghosts and I don’t want to die… but thankfully – no ghosts! There was, however, too much sun! We were setting up in 34 degree heat!! In a greenhouse!! Yep.. who does that?! For the most part, I have to say that out of our whole team, Emilie from Pop-Up Gardens spent the most time in the greenhouse and she didn’t complain one bit! That is the kind of vendor you want at your wedding!
Our team was so amazing and beautiful troopers to do this amazing shoot! I’m inspired by all of them and hope that I get to continually work with them in the future. We even got featured in Polka Dot Bride!!
